Valentines Day in the Countryside

It sounds rather romantic to say that we traveled to the countryside for a long weekend rather than just saying we visited family in Iowa.  We decided to take advantage of a three day weekend (thanks Presidents) to get a way from the city and spend some time with a few generations of family...

It was so much fun to see one of the younger nephews who is just over a year old... he has changed so much and the word of the weekend was "Jeeeeez!"  It was also pretty awesome to get to see my grandparents, visiting with them was much easier without all of the holiday hoopla that is usually present when we visit.

So our Valentines day celebration this year consided of making orange bowknots, hours of sitting at the kitchen table chatting, making brownies for valentines, family movie nights, and my dad making homemade french fries... it was an awesome weekend.

This was also a chance for Dan to see just how snowy it gets by midwinter in northern Iowa.  There was tons of snow drifts, it was so pretty.
