Goodbye 2010. Hello 2011.
2010 was a good year. A year with trials and challenges for sure but there was a lot of good stuff in there too. We are ending the year feeling stronger than when it started and ready for this new year.
I think 2010 was the year we stopped waiting. There were so many things that we had wanted to do but always thought we needed to hit some imaginary point first... this year we just did it.
A few favorites from 2010...
We grew a garden and preserved the goods. Pesto was frozen. Parsley dried. Whole and crushed tomatoes, salsa and pickeled jalapeno peppers canned. And countless dinners over the summer included something from the garden.
We made our place feel more like our home. No more waiting until we buy a place. It was time to nest... even if this nest will move.
We refinished and revitalized a side table.
Went on a spontaneous weekend getaway. Twice.
Ran a crapload of miles. Ran the Chicago Marathon.
Cooked alot. Quite possibly more than ever. We tried to eliminate as much processed food as possible.
We got out of the house and into the great outdoors often.
Made it to France!
And quite simply, we had a lot of fun. We laughed a lot, finished a lot of to do lists and put our feet up every once in a while. And... we played scrabble on the first and the last days of the year.
For the past two months we have been hashing over what our plans will be for 2011+. I think we just might have it all figured out. Now, if everything can happen as planned with zero monkey wrenches.
2011 will be a great year.
