Top 10 Reasons to Move West to Suburbia...

1. Lower Rent.
2. Attached 2 car garage.
3. Little to no garbage in the neighborhood streets, sidewalks... thus no wrestling chicken bones out of the dogs' mouths when they mistake garbage as a treat.
4. Lower sales tax... by like 3%!
5. Free parking at stores, movie theaters, post office, etc vs the $25 that we would have to pay for parking if were to go to a movie in the city.
6. Less tourists to have to move around.
7. Less congested... it can take upwards of 30 minutes to go 3 miles in the city... and then you have to find parking.
8. Quieter... ie no buses taking off at 6am outside your bedroom window.
9. No more taking the dogs or the groceries up and down the elevator and through sets of locked common doors.
10. No more having to smell the neighbors' interesting dinners while in the hallway waiting for the elevator.

Reasons to Not Move to Suburbia...
1. It is the suburbs.
2. We will feel left out with no 'my kid is better than your kid bumper stickers'
3. There are lots of kids everywhere...
4. We will be the suburbians driving into the city on the weekends {I would not give up my hair stylist!}
5. It is the suburbs.
6. It will be quiet.
7. There will be kids and moms with crying babies driving... ie scary drivers.
8. We will have to go to stripmalls.
9. Our view while walking the dogs will not include the Sears Tower.
10. It is the suburbs.

So will we sell out for cheap rent, lower taxes, and a 2 car garage? Will the city kids become suburban wanna be hipsters? Will the dogs become lethargic and uncultured? Will we trade the Hemi for a Prius? Stay tuned to find out what neighborhood the next chapter of Dan & Tara will take place in...

Time for a change...

So after much drama, Dan and I finally find a new place to live. We found a very nice 2 bedroom condo in the West Loop. Compared to our old Howe Street place this one is huge! We are thoroughly enjoying having multiple closets; the coat closet is a dream. We are also loving the floor to ceiling windows- it is so nice to get some natural light after living in a dungeon for 2 years. But as you can see in the picture- we had quite a bit of crap stuffed into that little 1 br apt so moving was a lot of effort. Especially since our new place come complete with years of dirt... we spent the first day scrubbing the place down! But we are finding a home for everything and are just about to hang up our stuff on the walls. It is definitely a change but we are really enjoying both the new place and the new neighborhood.
