Scenes from the weekend

It was a beautiful summer weekend.

We had our last long training run before the upcoming big event...

Enjoyed fresh rosemary on red potatoes (yum) for breakfast...

Spend an afternoon exploring a different city neighborhood...

Spend another afternoon exploring yet another city neighborhood...

and enjoyed an afternoon beer alfresco...

Began preparations for our one year anniversary celebration...

Started work on a new little blog project...

It sometimes amazing me how much can be fit into two days.  We were quite busy this weekend but made sure to find time to relax and enjoy the perfect summer weather.  And of course started to look back at that lovely weekend one year ago.

Weekends: Cooking + Dog Grooming

It was another super busy weekend in our little house.  Between all the cooking, dog grooming, gardening, sewing, and running we found time to enjoy time with friends and family.  The story of our first attempt at brushing our dogs' teeth really deserves a post of its own... so we will try to get that in this week.  The kitchen did not close this weekend- we were baking and grilling for what seemed like the entire weekend!  Our little backyard is coming along; we have all of the seeds in so we will see what makes it to actually flowering.  But at this point, I am exhausted and need to shut down the computer so I can make it through the day tomorrow without being too grumpy!

A Springy Weekend

What a busy, productive weekend it was in our little home!  We checked so many things off our list and enjoyed the very lovely weather.  The highlight might be the yard work we did... we finally have a little baby, container herb garden!  We tried to clean up the shared yard space and prepare it for summer.  The budget is pretty small but there was room for a few packets of seeds to add a little color.  So while I was painting the terracotta pots, Dan was working on the facelift for our dresser and cleaning out the dead weedy junk that had taken over the space.  However we didn't spend the whole weekend in the back yard, we also went on long walks with the pups, grilled and cooked a couple of very yummy dinners, and started work on a few baby shower projects.  I think it might have been the least amount of time spend on the computers over a weekend in a long time!  We just needed some warm, sunny weather to get us motivated.

Here is a little snippet of what our weekend looked like...

A couple of things came out of this weekend... we need to get patio safe glasses and plates (one wine glass down) and we really don't think we will be able to give up having a yard.  Even if it is tiny and a shared space; having a yard is wonderful!  I know that sounds funny but after living in the city for so long we had grown accustomed to not having one so it really is a treat for us to now have that space.

A Wintery Saturday

This past Saturday was a wonderful weekend day. After a nice breakfast at home we headed downtown to a craft fair... there were lots of pretty things and we really had to practice restraint to not spend a lot!

Then we headed up north to Logan Square to meet some friends for late, long lunch to catch up. And I had my first bloody mary- yuck. I am not a bloody mary person.

Then we headed back home to play in the snow with the pups...

Now if only we could find the motivation to decorate for the holidays...

Projects In Progress

This is how we roll on a Saturday night... by painting and cutting paper and writing out menu labels...

It actually was fun as we were just hanging out and working on a project together. It has been mad chaos in our house lately as besides the upcoming baby shower, I have finals starting... so my juggling skills are at their limit right now! Good thing I have such a great helper!

Typical Fall Weekend and A Bag of Diapers

It was just another fall weekend in our little household. I have been an apple dish baking machine; we had both apple cake and apple crisp all in one week. Dan has been working on a top secret project for me for the baby shower. I have been studying and group project work for school. And we have managed to get the poochies out for a few walks. Today we took them to Lincoln Park for a little squirrel chasing...

Oh and we bought baby diapers at Target, after asking some random lady if a newborn would outgrow 2 packs of diapers (yeah we are so not parents and up on these things)... and Dan's debit card did not implode when paying for them. Then I spent tonight rolling them... I am only half done with this fun task. Ever wonder what a bag of rolled up diapers looks like? Thought so...

Dog Days of Summer

Well, according to Dan, "our blog has gone down hill" based on the steady decline in the number of posts per year... But you see how frequently he posts on here to keep the life in it... Oh well.

This past weekend we had a perfect day on Saturday. What allows one to create a perfect day? Sitting outside and eating brunch at a neighborhood restaurant, walking through Lincoln Park and by the lake, and then a movie at home with the tired snuggly dogs and a "Dan's signature margarita."

It was a pretty awesome, married person weekend. But I can't wait for this weekend as we have some pretty cool plans to celebrate my birthday week...
